  1. Type in your username and password on the Play page, the game should pop up within a few seconds.
  2. Take some time to familiarise yourself with the interface (check out the link for a full description).
  3. To begin with we'll need to purchase some basic applications, these are all free. Select Applications from the top menu, then Internet and finally Store.
  4. From the banking tab, click the buy button next to BasicBank.bin, then move to the attack tab and purchase BasicAttack.bin.
  5. If you click on the GAME MESSAGES tab on the chat window, you'll see two messages saying "File succesfully purchased."
  6. Next, on the top menu, select System > Administration > Port Management, the new window that open is used to control what scripts are running on what ports.
  7. Select any of the ports, and select "Click Here To Install Script", then choose the "Install Application" option; from the open file window, select one of the scripts we just purchased and click "Install".
  8. Repeat step seven with the other script we purchase, again installing it on any of the ports. You will notice that for each script installed, your CPU usage percentage increases. The CPU cost of each script can be seen next to the script in the Port Management window. The scripts we have installed so far, BasicAttack.bin and BasicBank.bin have a CPU cost of 20 and 11, respectively. You cannot install a new application if it will take your CPU usage over 100%.
  9. You'll want to set your attack and banking script to default, by clicking on the red cross in the default column, opposite both scripts. This option is used to determine which ports are called when the option is selected from the applications menu, and which ports can be used when being attacked.
  10. To attack or scan an NPC or player, you'll need to have $10 available. Because we'll be scanning and attacking, we'll need $20. Head to Applications > Banking > Withdraw and enter 20 into the input box.
  11. You'll see that $20 has been transfered from your bank into your petty cash. You're now ready to begin attacking.
  12. Before we launch any attack, we'll need a target. Many of the NPCs available in Hack Wars take the form of public domain books, such as the Wizard of Oz and Maid Marian. The easiest NPC in Hack Wars are the Maid Marian books, so open up the web browser (Applications > Internet > Web Browser) and then on the windows top menu, select "Places > Store".
